How the Pomodoro Technique works

Work in short, focused bursts (25 minutes by default) separated by a 5-minute break. After every 4 focus sessions, take a longer 15-minute break to recover. This timer automates the whole cycle: when a phase ends, it plays a chime and moves straight into the next phase automatically, so you never have to touch the mouse mid-session. Adjust the focus, short-break, and long-break lengths above if 25/5/15 doesn't fit your workflow — some people prefer 50/10 for deep work, or 15/3 for ADHD-friendly sprints.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Pomodoro Technique?

A time-management method: work in focused 25-minute sessions separated by 5-minute breaks, with a longer 15-minute break after every 4 sessions.

Can I change the work and break lengths?

Yes. Use the settings fields to set any focus length, short break, and long break in minutes — the classic 25/5/15 is just the default.

Does it automatically switch between work and break?

Yes. When a session ends, an alarm plays and the timer automatically moves to the next phase (break or focus) and keeps running.

Is this Pomodoro timer free and private?
