Gross pay, not take-home pay

This calculator converts between pay periods using your hours/days per week and weeks per year — it shows gross pay (before deductions). It does not subtract income tax, CPP/EI, provincial/state deductions, or benefits, because those vary enormously by province, state, and personal situation. Use it to sanity-check a job offer's pay period math (e.g. "is $25/hour actually close to $52,000/year?"), not as a paycheck estimator.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert hourly pay to annual salary?

Multiply your hourly rate by the hours you work per week, then by the number of paid weeks per year. At 40 hours/week and 52 weeks/year, $25/hour equals $52,000/year (25 × 40 × 52).

Does this include tax deductions?

No. This shows gross pay (before tax) in every pay period. Income tax, CPP/EI, or state/provincial deductions vary by location and situation, so they're intentionally not included — use it for gross-to-gross comparisons only.

What's the difference between biweekly and semimonthly pay?

Biweekly means paid every 2 weeks (26 paychecks/year). Semimonthly means paid twice a month, typically the 1st and 15th (24 paychecks/year). They look similar but produce different per-paycheck amounts — this calculator shows both.

Can I use this for part-time or unusual schedules?

Yes — adjust hours per week, work days per week, and paid weeks per year (e.g. lower it if you take unpaid time off) to match your actual schedule.
