Seeing "Service Battery" or "Service Recommended"? Battery draining in an hour, not charging, or a swollen battery pushing on the trackpad? We check battery health and fit a fresh battery. Free diagnostic, written quote before any work.
We confirm the battery's true health before recommending a replacement
Genuine-quality batteries for the full MacBook range
Not sure which model you have? Call us and we'll identify it.
Every MacBook battery wears out eventually — it is a consumable part, rated for a set number of charge cycles. After a few years of daily use, capacity drops, runtime shrinks, and macOS starts showing the "Service Battery" or "Service Recommended" message in the battery menu. The good news is that a fresh battery makes an older MacBook feel new again, restoring hours of unplugged use for a fraction of the cost of replacing the whole machine. IT Cares has been replacing MacBook batteries for Montreal clients since 2014.
Not every battery complaint actually means the battery, which is why we always check the real numbers first. Our free diagnostic looks at your battery's measured health, its cycle count, and how the charging circuit is behaving. Sometimes a MacBook that "drains too fast" is being hammered by a runaway background app or an aggressive setting, not a worn battery — and in those cases a quick tune-up, sometimes even a remote session for $59.99 (30 min) or $99.99 (60 min), solves it without any parts at all. We only recommend a replacement when the battery genuinely needs one.
A swollen battery, however, deserves urgent attention. Lithium batteries can expand as they age or fail, and on a MacBook that swelling pushes up the trackpad, bows the keyboard, or even cracks the case. Beyond the inconvenience, a badly swollen cell is a safety concern. If you notice your trackpad clicking oddly, the laptop rocking on a flat surface, or the case bulging, stop charging it, avoid pressing on it, and bring it in promptly. We remove the swollen battery safely and install a fresh, properly seated one.
Once we have confirmed a replacement is the right call, you get a clear, written quote before we order a single part or begin the work. Because MacBook batteries differ significantly by model and year — the pack in a 13" Air is nothing like the high-capacity cells in a 16" Pro — the price genuinely depends on your specific machine, so we never quote a fake "from" figure. After fitting the new battery we calibrate it and verify healthy charging behaviour before returning your Mac. Your files, apps and settings are never touched during a battery swap.
We service the entire MacBook line: MacBook Air 13" and 15", MacBook Pro 13", 14", 15" and 16", the 12" MacBook, and older Pro, Air and unibody models, on both Intel and Apple Silicon. For anything beyond the battery, we also offer full computer repair. Book a diagnostic on our booking page and we'll have your MacBook holding a real charge again.
