IT Cares charges a $49 CAD diagnostic, then fixed CAD pricing: $349 for logical recovery, $799 for mechanical failure, and $1,499 for complex cases. We can't quote another company's exact prices since they vary by case and aren't published in CAD, but our pricing is transparent, fixed per tier, and backed by a no-data-no-pay guarantee.
How do I send my drive to IT Cares if I'm not in Montreal?
You can book a domestic Canadian courier pickup from anywhere in the country, or mail your drive using a Canadian carrier (Canada Post, Purolator, UPS Canada) directly to our Montreal workshop. Because the shipment stays within Canada, there's no customs form, no duty, and no cross-border transit delay.
What is the no-data-no-pay guarantee?
If IT Cares cannot recover any of your data, you pay only the $49 diagnostic fee — not the full recovery cost. We show you a file listing of recovered data before you pay anything beyond the diagnostic. This applies to every recovery tier.
Do you handle the same failure types as a specialized US lab?
Yes for the vast majority of cases: logical recovery, SSD/NVMe, RAID/NAS, iPhone/Android, USB and SD cards, and common mechanical failures like clicking drives and PCB damage are handled in-house at our Montreal workshop. The rarest and most severe cases (platter scoring, multi-head-stack replacement) are referred to our certified partner clean-room lab in Canada — we do not claim an in-house ISO Class 5 clean room we don't have.
